Guillaume Patt-Lafitte

Postdoctoral Researcher

Project: Coup de Pouce F2M
Room: 104-20-195
Dates: 2026 - Present

Guillaume Patt-Lafitte is a multidisciplinary researcher in Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering, specializing in the design and characterization of 3D and 4D printed smart polymers. His work focuses on developing shape-morphing polymer materials, structural composites, and responsive scaffolds intended for advanced biomedical applications, such as bone fixation and tissue engineering.

He earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering in 2024 from the École des Mines de Saint-Étienne. His doctoral research, which was part of the Horizon Europe BoneFix project, focused on the design of a 4D-printed, reinforced resin composite membrane intended as a novel bone fixation patch. His academic background also includes an M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from Paris University. Guillaume possesses extensive and versatile expertise bridging materials formulation (photo-curable resins), additive manufacturing (FDM), biomechanical testing, and in vitro biological assessments (such as macrophage cell culture for inflammatory response validation).

Prior to joining the laboratory, Guillaume completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre for Biomedical and Healthcare Engineering (Sainbiose lab, Saint-Étienne), where he developed shape-morphing polymers and validated inflammatory responses using macrophage cultures.

More recently, he joined the Laboratoire de Mécanique des Solides (LMS) at École Polytechnique as a Postdoctoral Researcher, bringing his versatile skill set in smart materials, advanced characterization (Micro-CT, SEM, Confocal microscopy), and 3D printing to tackle new challenges in soft tissue biomechanics and mechanobiology.
