Odette Ngann

Former Intern (April 2025)

Next Position: Master 1 IPP (Biomedical Engineering)

Odette Ngann is a former intern at the Laboratoire de Mécanique des Solides (LMS). During her one-month internship, she focused on experimental mechanobiology, specifically working on the formulation and advanced imaging of composite biomaterials.

Internship Overview

Project: Experimental formulation and imaging of collagen hydrogels with embedded magnetic nanoparticles

Odette’s work centered on the experimental synthesis and microstructural observation of smart, responsive biomaterials. By embedding magnetic nanoparticles into a biological matrix, her project aimed to explore new ways to manipulate and observe soft tissue models.

Her core contributions included:

  • Hydrogel Formulation: Successfully synthesizing and preparing 3D collagen hydrogels embedded with magnetic nanoparticles.
  • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT): Utilizing advanced OCT bioimaging to visualize and assess the microstructural organization of the hydrogels.
  • Experimental Characterization: Evaluating the distribution and integration of the nanoparticles within the collagen matrix to ensure a viable composite material for future biomechanical testing.

Key topics: Collagen Hydrogels Magnetic Nanoparticles Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Experimental Biomechanics
